For some years now I have been passionate about planning and participating in outdoor adventures. I did not grow up being exposed to many outdoor activities. I clearly remember a family trip when I was 8 or 9 in British Columbia, where my mom said we could not go hiking because "There are bears". For many years the great outdoors were unknown and scary to me.
Luckily for me I discovered rock climbing in my early twenties. The new relations and experiences I encountered through this activity opened up a world of possibilities for me. I also started snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hiking.
In 2012 I visited New Zealand for the first time and learned about the existence of the Te Araroa trail. From that moment, I knew that was something I wanted to do. As soon as I got back from my trip, I started planning to hike the trail in the next years. I completely changed the way I was managing and spending my money in order for my dream to become possible. Less than two years after coming back from New Zealand, I took a sabbatical year off from work and went to hike the trail. I caught the hiking bug and hiking and the outdoors have remained a huge part of my life ever since.
I don't claim to be the fastest or boldest adventurer or the one with the lightest pack. I enjoy planning trips and sharing them with my entourage. Being in nature has become necessary to my well being and peace of mind over the years. With this site, if I can inspire just one person to go out and explore our beautiful world, my goal will be met.
