I will travel from the village of Umiujaq on the Hudson bay to the village of Tasiujaq on the Ungava bay only by man-powered modes of transportation. I will travel solo, with only one resupply on route.
The region is called Nunavik. It is in the North of the province of Quebec in Canada. Very few people live there, they are mostly native people and they mainly live close to the coasts.
The region is rich in lakes and waterways and is home to caribus, wolves, black bears, wolverines, musk oxen and many other animals.
This map will be updated daily starting at the end of June 2017. Expedition dates: July 24 - August 30, 2017
Training in Tursujuq National Park: June 21-28, 2017 & July 17-23, 2017
American Packrating Round-up: July 1-10, 2017
Part of the journey will be on foot. Most of it will consist of hiking to Lake Minto, the start of the Leaf River.
Part of the journey will be paddling my packraft across Lake Minto and down the Leaf River.
This will be my first trip in Nunavik. I have been wanting to go there for a long time and reading trip reports of people canoeing on the rivers in this region had me inspired to plan this trip.
